How I lost 3 Stone in 3 Months.

Over the last few weeks Tracy you have managed to really get yourself in great shape. What made you decide to do it?
Enough was enough! I had lots of things going on which put me in a routine of bad eating, drinking, and not exercising. I felt fat, unhealthy, and was sick that no nice clothes would fit me or the way I looked in them.
You have been working with a Personal Trainer at Xcel. How has this worked out for you?
This has kept me on the straight and narrow. Knowing that I was getting weighed every week and that I had targets that Claire (my trainer) had set me. My workouts targeted the whole of my body - focusing on both weight loss and muscle toning which really helped as these were my two main goals.
Your trainer has also been going through a transformation – did this have an effect on you?
Yes its really kept me motivated. It’s been very interesting watching Claire’s journey. It has inspired me and helped me to want to do well. I find the whole world of competition and fitness very interesting. I’ve loved seeing Claire’s transformation week by week – she has done amazing.
What changes did you make to your diet and lifestyle?
I’ve been really good during the week. No alcohol and healthy eating. Then at the weekend I would have a treat day which may be a takeaway, meal out and some alcohol. Although I would make sure I increased my steps on my step-counter that day to try and compensate those extra calories.
Whatever you have done has worked for you – has it been tough? Do you feel you have had to really discipline yourself?
Yes I had to be disciplined. It’s a mindset and change is now routine. It can get quite boring eating the same thing in the week but I now know what works for me so it keeps me motivated to keep doing it. I still get my treats at the weekend which I look forward to.
Do you think all these new changes have now become habitual to you or do you still have to keep motivating yourself?
Yes up to a point, it feels like habit now but yes I have to keep motivated. It’s harder when its cold and wet to go for a walk or a run but you only get out what you put in!
Often people use “Time” as a barrier to change. Did you feel that finding the time to fit the new changes in to your life were ever a problem?
Sometimes it would be easy after work not to bother and stay home, but I get changed straight away and get out. My exercise is then done and the night is then my own.
Do you ever get tempted to go back to your old lifestyle?
Yes, that would be dead easy but I would no longer have any clothes to wear as I’ve thrown them out. Christmas is coming and I want to wear a nice black dress not a bin liner!
You have lost 3 stone in just a few months but also changed shape and got much fitter. What are you most pleased with?
How I look – I can now wear lovely clothes and feel better about my body. I also feel so much fitter and have more energy. It’s great not to feel like a big unfit lethargic slug.
Will it be difficult to maintain this new lifestyle/body and have you got to where you want to be?
I’m going to try my best not to put any of the 3 stone that I’ve lost back on. I would like to lose another stone. I believe you only get out what you put in and I feel much better like this both physically and mentally.

People will often tell me they know someone who eats junk all day long, doesn’t exercise and never seems to put weight on. Whereas you may only have to look at food and the weight goes on. Wouldn’t you like to supercharge your metabolism so that your body burns more of the calories that you eat even whilst you rest?23 April 2016
